Read a lot of great things about this restaurant before our trip to Tybee Island. Upon arriving you feel like you made a wrong turn because you have to drive through a boating dock. Don’t be fooled - keep driving. Once we got there we put our name on the waiting list and then was seated not long after. We decided to eat on the patio so we could have a view of the ocean with the golden hour setting in. I think they may have been short staffed because we waited like 20 minutes for our drinks and a long time for our Mahi Mahi tacos . The food was amazing. It tasted fresh and had lots of flavor. You get three tacos which is a lot with no sides. Honestly you don’t need one. Besides the wait for everything the experience was neat. It has a dive bar beach vibe with a beautiful view and really nice waitstaff.
This is a great little place. Food was excellent, service was attentive and friendly. Atmosphere is just a small local bar/food stop that makes.good seafood meals. We ordered the gumbo (the place is named after.gumbo), crab cakes, hush puppies, we split a shrimp dinner and my father in law went with the crab cake dinner. I have not had much gumbo, but I will definitely compare other gumbo to that one. If I had to nitpick, the shrimp are tiny.
We just stopped to have a drink and check out the spot. The waitress was great, very personable! All the food brought out looked great and smelled awesome! The people coming and going from the docks were entertaining. We saw some dolphins and a mama otter with 2 pups playing under the socks. Pretty cool spot.
Great Atmosphere & Amazing Seafood! My friend brought me to Bubba Gumbo’s, and I was immediately drawn in by the natural, relaxed vibe and the beautiful waterfront setting. The fresh air and peaceful surroundings made the wait for our food enjoyable. And when the food arrived—WOW! The fried shrimp and baked scallops were absolutely amazing—perfectly cooked, flavorful, and fresh. This place is a hidden gem for seafood lovers. I’ll definitely be back!
Friends had the low country boil. My husband & I had fried shrimp and crab cake sandwich. All were absolutely delicious! I would definitely go back again!
First of all, this place rocks! It has a cozy, local vibe that you just can’t beat. Located right on the water, you’ll enjoy a peaceful view whether you choose to sit outside or inside. I loved the atmosphere, and the music was totally my jam. They offer Sunday brunch, which is a nice touch, but we went for lunch. The fried shrimp was some of the best I’ve ever had! The crab cakes were absolutely delicious, too. This is literally the one and only place to eat in Tybee if you want fresh seafood. GO HERE!
Great food. We tried triple tail for the first time. We had it blackened and it was cooked to perfection! The hush puppies were amazing and the gumbo was really good. Not Louisiana good but very tasty. Service was really good. Don’t miss the fresh fish co-op next door.
What an absolute GEM of a local restaurant! Food was delicious, the vibe was great, and location was interesting. At first, we were confused when the GPS took us to a boatyard, but we quickly realized it was hidden in the back past the boats. Such a charming place. Staff was friendly and gave good recommendations, our waitress Courtney was attentive and quick. But the FOOD . Asparagus grilled to perfection, the Sheepshead fish cooked and blackened just right, melting like butter in my mouth. Tasty fries. Highly recommend people come and try the fresh seafood here, it's better than anything I've ever had elsewhere.
